To promote the 2016 release of the newest title in the Final Fantasy Series, Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix approached us to bring one of their favorite characters to the fans at the Pax West event held yearly in Seattle.
For those not familiar to the AAA Title, the Chocobos are a beloved mythical creature that is a blend somewhere between a chicken and an ostrich. It is one of the only characters that has been carried throughout the multi-world storylines of Final Fantasy.
To celebrate the most recent incarnation of the Chocobo, we suggested another collaboration with Uber to provide fans with rides in custom-skinned mini-coopers complete with giant Chocobo tails and car horns that blared out the unmistakable, unforgettable, peacock-like sound of the legendary bird.

We outfitted top-ranked Uber drivers in custom-made costumes to match that of a new character in the game, the Chocobo rancher.
Custom-dyed and stamped kerchiefs with vintage leather vests, blue-jean shirts and herringbone caps.

Additionally, we brought on a custom-skinned Hammerhead truck and Cindy’s character from the game to bring Cosplayers together for high visibility flash-mob style photo shoots on the truckbed in front of the convention center.

The different colored Chocobo skins are a big part of the in-game fun. Fans who were lucky enough to get a ride in the coveted White Chocobo received a surprise gift of a developer-signed autographed copy of the game, a tee-shirt and a poster.
Designated hashtag #UBERIV made sure that the impact and retention lived on well past the activation’s short cycle as fans who posted on social media were entered to win a copy of the game.
The activation brought home an AAF Gold and a Promax BDA for the agency and its partners.
